Selena Gomez Explains the Deeply Personal Meaning of Her and Cara Delevingne’s Matching Tattoos

Tattoo artist Bang Bang unveiled one of Selena Gomez’s most dramatic tattoos last month, a pink rose on her back, and the news that her friend and Only Murders in the Building co-star Cara Delevingne got her own matching one. During her Live With Kelly and Ryan interview yesterday, the hosts asked Gomez about what the rose meant.

“It means a couple of different things,” Gomez said. “But me and Cara [Delevingne], one of my best friends that I’ve known for—I was maybe 16 when I met her—she calls me ‘Rosebud.’ So, it’s a nickname, and I’ve always wanted a rose. Now, I got one and I love it.”

She added that Delevingne is not the only friend with whom she has gotten a tattoo. “Yeah, I do [have matching tattoos with friends]!” Gomez said. “I have, actually, multiple tattoos with people who have honestly left a significant mark on my life. I have one with Julia Micheals, my mom and my best friends.”

Gomez posted an Instagram showing her and her best friends Raquelle Stevens, Ashley Cook, and Courtney Lopez getting their tattoos together in August 2018.

“#4 because these women have stayed by my side for 7 years (@ashley_cook 12 years) 4, because you are my 4 for the rest of my life,” Gomez wrote then. “I love you ladies. You all inspire me to be better, stronger, closer to god and we have lived the most INSANE story together already. Can’t wait for 50 more!! Ps @raquellestevens had an actual panic attack ? it’s a dot! ??‍♀️ ”
